Course Materials: GWO
The Global Wind Organisation controls safety training standards for many wind energy companies, both site operators, engineers and third party support staff, and has been widely adopted across the UK and Europe with growing interest from the USA. The Basic Safety Training [BST] scheme is split into five modules; Manual Handling, Safe Work at Height, Fire Awareness, First Aid and Sea Survival. The Safe Work at Height and Manual Handling modules can be combined into a single session. We provide course packs for all BST topics except Sea Survival, as this is only delivered by specialist training centres.
The Advanced Rescue [ART] standard covers team-based and solo rescue from all areas of the turbine, and is also split into modules, however training providers will normally deliver them as a package. We fully support all the initial and refresher course combinations for ART.
UVSAR is the world's first supplier of OEM course materials for GWO BST/ART accredited training companies, and we have been providing world-leading content and quality right back to the earliest days of the industry. Our constantly-updated packages of secure classroom slides, instructor notes, printed student handbooks and expert support are second to none.
GWO is by definition global in scope, and training courses must reflect that. Workers are highly mobile and often need to understand different territorial legal systems, so our course packs are designed to be adaptive. Handbooks are globally-relevant wherever possible, and are supported by printed Law Guides for each territory. Since almost every delegate will attend several modules in a block, this reduces the amount of material required and allows for easy "conversion" during refreshers.
Materials are supplied in a clean OEM format with no brand bias, as shown in the images on this webpage. We use fully-licensed imagery throughout, with no third-party logos or product names visible. Materials can be branded with your corporate logos (printed books subject to minimum orders). Standard GWO course delivery packs are in English and are available for workers subject to UK or USA legislation.

Restrictions
To deliver GWO training, the provider must be regularly audited by a GWO-approved certification body. This includes assessment of facilities, equipment, instructor competencies and quality management systems, and approval is per-syllabus. Our course packages have been audited many times and always pass without issue, but we cannot and do not guarantee that a training provider or venue will be accredited, nor can we intervene in the auditing process. These course materials are only sold to GWO approved training providers, or those in the process of applying for accreditation.
What do I get?
- A Course Delivery Pack per module, containing logo-branded FXL EPUB classroom slides, PDF instructor notes, practical scenario guidance, example exam questions and auditor cross-references. Initial and refresher versions are included where applicable.
- A perpetual non-transferable license to use the materials within the CDP as-supplied for delivery of the named syllabus, to unlimited students anywhere in the world. You can make as many copies of the CDP as required for your instructing staff, but cannot give copies of slide decks to delegates, resell/syndicate the materials or publish them online.
- Access to order the full-colour printed student handbooks, shipped directly from the nearest global distribution hub (UK, USA, Australia).
- Free updates for five years to account for changes in legislation or standards (extended service plans available after this period).
FXL EPUB? Whatnow?
Consistent design and content is vital for training course delivery. Auditors and insurers need to know that a delegate was shown exactly the same information as everyone else, so slide decks that can be freely edited by instructors, deleting things they don't like or adding images stolen from the Web, are simply not acceptable in a professional environment. There are only a few ways to distribute rich-content slide decks so they always look the same, on Windows, Mac or mobile, without having to manually install fonts or change screen sizes, and the most reliable and modern format is Fixed Layout (FXL) EPUB. Click here for more information and samples.
I want PowerPoints!
Our slide decks use technology that is not supported in PowerPoint or Apple Pages. We do not provide the editable masters for our OEM course handbooks or slide decks for obvious reasons; each document represents hundreds of hours of expert work and the content is only licensed for use as a finished document. By limiting our OEM materials to EPUB/PDF we can reduce prices, include graphics that cannot be licensed in editable formats, and take away the worries about how to keep everything updated and error-free.
OK, how much?
BST Course Delivery Packs are £450.00 per module, plus VAT.
A full set of the four BST Course Delivery Packs is £1450.00 plus VAT.
The combined ART Course Delivery Pack is £550.00 plus VAT.
Our 8.5x11" full-colour perfect bound student handbooks are produced on demand so you always get the latest version. Standard service has a typical 5-working-day lead time to dispatch, minimum order quantity is 20 books in any combination. Shipping fees depend on destination, printing facilities are in the UK and USA; for a typical order of 20 books the shipping fees are approximately £ 5.50 to the UK, $ 20.00 to the USA, and £ 30.00 to the EU (duty paid).
Delegates each require one copy of the relevant Law Guide (UK / US / EU) , plus handbook(s) for the modules being taught.
Handbook title | Unit Price UK/EU | Unit Price USA |
---|---|---|
Working at Heights | GBP 8.48 | USD 9.19 |
Fire Awareness | GBP 4.56 | USD 4.85 |
Manual Handling | GBP 4.56 | USD 4.85 |
Advanced Rescue | GBP 5.76 | USD 6.35 |
Law Guides | GBP 4.56 | USD 4.85 |
The Manual Handling handbook is for use when delivering the MH module as a standalone course (without a Law Guide). For the WAHMH combined course the Working at Heights handbook and Law Guide are normally sufficient.
We do not provide a handbook for First Aid as it is recommended (and more economical) to issue delegates with the standard First Aid Manual from the Red Cross/St John Ambulance for BST, or an appropriate First Person On Scene textbook for EFA.
